Lỗi thường gặp

✗ I am prefer coffee.→✓ I prefer coffee.

"Prefer" là động từ chỉ trạng thái — thường dùng hiện tại đơn, không dùng tiếp diễn để diễn tả sở thích cố định.

✗ She prefer tea over coffee.→✓ She prefers tea over coffee.

Chủ ngữ ngôi thứ ba số ít (she/he/it) → thêm -s: prefers.

✗ He has preferred pasta last night.→✓ He preferred pasta last night.

Có mốc thời gian rõ (last night) → dùng quá khứ đơn, không dùng hiện tại hoàn thành.
